General Spirituality and Woo

Tran­shu­man­ist psy­chol­o­gy has a bad rep­u­ta­tion, and frankly…there’s enough bull­shit out there that it’s not hard to see why. That bath­wa­ter some­times has some baby in it though as we begin to dis­cov­er the out­er lim­its of med­i­ta­tion, the pow­er of self-sug­ges­tion (place­bo or no), and the pow­er of sto­ry and nar­ra­tive to expand the lim­its of human achieve­ment. I’ve always been fas­ci­nat­ed by what we can achieve when we don’t have a sledge­ham­mer of skep­ti­cism crush­ing whole cat­e­gories of human expe­ri­ence because they over­lap with or are adja­cent to super­sti­tion.

Mag­ick- Call it what you will (and I have my the­o­ries) but we can tell our­selves sto­ries that become true.
Tarot- I have a bit of a knack at div­ina­tion. Call it intu­ition and skill with nar­ra­tive if you want, or maybe I have a patron deity of prophe­cy slip­ping me the answers. Either way, I will do a tarot read for a small fee—or half price if you’ll let me blog the results.
